Germany’s oldest debating society, Streitkultur Tübingen, opens the current season with a few innovations: First of all, they offer four novice nights on Tuesdays at 7 p.m., starting 12 October, followed by 19 and 26 October and 2 November. Venue is the just recently opened Gerichts- und Verhandlungssaal at Neue Aula, Tübingen, which is perfectly fit for debates. The event for newbies of all kinds is followed by the regular club debate, which was re-scheduled from Wednesdays to Tuesdays. The third novelty of Tübingen’s traditional debating society is that once a month the format of Tübinger Debatte (a format developed by Streitkultur Tübingen) will be exercised whereas usually debates will be held in OPD (Open Parliamentary Debate, a format widely spread in Germany). In addition to that, BPS (British Parliamentary Style) will not be neglected – after all, Streitkultur Tübingen succeeded at this year’s German debating championship in BPS.
