The International Debate Academy Slovenia (or IDAS) is a truly outstanding event. From November 19 to 27, IDAS brings together international participants and leading debating experts from all over the world. Bojana Skrt‘s org com is pleased to present the ESL EUDC champions (among others) 2010 Maja Cimerman and Filip Dobranic as well as the ESL WUDC champion 2008 Anne Valkering and Manos Moschopoulos (ESL EUDC finalist 2010, best ESL speaker WUDC 2010) as trainers.

Until November 24, IDAS offers a wide range of workshops all around debating complemented by intense practice debates. This part of IDAS takes place in the Špik hotel in the ski resort Kranjska Gora, at a distance of 85 km from Slovenian capital Ljubljana. In Ljubljana itself, it comes to the showdown of the whole week: the IDAS tournament from November 25 to 27, where the new skills can be put into practice. To break to quarters, semis and final, there are six prelims to master.

The costs amount to 300 Euros for the full programme and include accommodation, meals, course materials and travel costs from Kranjska Gora to Ljubljana. Participating only at the tournament is no problem at all – there are separate registration forms for the full programme and for the tournament only. Reg fee for the tournament is 75 Euros, meals and accommodation at the youth hostel Dijaški dom Bežigrad are included. To register, fill in the corresponding form and send it until November 15 to debata [at] siol [dot] net. For more information, please visit Facebook and the IDAS homepage.

This year, IDAS is entering its ninth round. 120 participants found their way to in 2010 and 60 Teams took part in the ensuing tournament. John Sadek and Jessica Bullock won the final (“This house believes that the free market does not make the workers free”) out of Closing Opposition. The trainer Isabelle Loewe and Anne Valkering reported for Achte Minute on IDAS 2009 (only German version available) and IDAS 2010.
