The wudcwatch interviewed two young debaters who are carrying on the tradition of the worlds oldest debating society at the competition\u2019s highest level. But we had hoped for it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Achte Minute:<\/strong> There is a long tradition of debating in Great Britain. Did you feel any pressure to succeed?<br \/>\n<strong>Ashish: <\/strong>Oh no&#8230;it\u2019s my first WUDC, so I didn\u2019t have any expectations.<br \/>\nRebecca: This is my second WUDC, but it\u2019s the first time that we have attended WUDC as a team so there wasn\u2019t much pressure on us.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Achte Minute:<\/strong> Do you take the tournament very seriously or is it just fun for you?<br \/>\n<strong>Rebecca: <\/strong>Both. We\u2019re enjoying the parties and the people, but it\u2019s also a serious opportunity.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nAchte Minute:<\/strong> How have you trained for Worlds?<br \/>\n<strong>Rebecca: <\/strong>We were selected to come to Berlin two months ago. Since then we have taken a closer look at German politics and we debated an hour per week as usual.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nAchte Minute: <\/strong>What is the key to your success at worlds?<br \/>\n<strong>Ashish:<\/strong> We are really chilled. For me it\u2019s kind of a holiday here.<br \/>\n<strong>Rebecca: <\/strong>You can\u2019t do anything special, just try to relax. There\u2019s so little time during the preparation time.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nAchte Minute: <\/strong>Did you have any favorite motions during the tournament?<br \/>\n<strong>Both:<\/strong> In general, we really like development motions. And the motion about soldiers\u2019 conscience was a good one.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Achte Minute:<\/strong> You are very relaxed and enjoying the WUDC. What about your family and friends? Are they excited?<br \/>\n<strong>Rebecca: <\/strong>Oh yes, they text a lot.
