They debated the motion &#8220;This House believes that humanitarian organisations should, and should be allowed to, give funding, resources or services to illegal armed groups when this is made a condition for access to vulnerable civilians.&#8221; and won against\u00a0Oxford A (<strong>Patrick Bateman<\/strong>, <strong>Natasha Rachman<\/strong>) in Opening Government,\u00a0BPP A \u00a0(<strong>Steven Rajavinothan<\/strong>, <strong>Michael O&#8217;Dwyer<\/strong>) in Opening Opposition and\u00a0Harvard A (<strong>Bo Seo<\/strong>, <strong>Fanelesibonge Mashwama<\/strong>) in Closing Opposition. The final was adjudicated by <strong>Shafiq Bazari<\/strong> (chair),\u00a0<strong>Dominic Guinane<\/strong>, <strong>Amelia McLeod<\/strong>, <strong>Arinah Najwa<\/strong>, <strong>Danique van Koppenhagen<\/strong>, <strong>Karin Merckens<\/strong>, <strong>Brett Frazer<\/strong>, <strong>Simon Tunnicliffe<\/strong> and <strong>Tim Andrew<\/strong>.<\/div>\n<h3>English as a Second Language<\/h3>\n<p>CUHK A (<strong>Samuel Chan Kai Yui<\/strong>, <strong>Benson Lam Chak-Hin<\/strong>) won the final in the category English as a second language (ESL). They debated the motion &#8220;This House believes that liberal democracies that overthrow the governments of other states should impose power-sharing, even when this severely overrides or delays democratic representation.&#8221; and won against\u00a0University of Dhaka A (<strong>Rishad Sharif<\/strong>, <strong>Raiha Nawal<\/strong>)<b>\u00a0<\/b>in Closing Opposition,\u00a0Stockholm A (<strong>Gustaf Lundgren<\/strong>, <strong>Johan Bage<\/strong>) in Opening Opposition and\u00a0Universitas Indonesia A (<strong>Roderick Jonathan Martua<\/strong>, <strong>Boby Andika Ruitang<\/strong>) in Closing Government. They debated the motion &#8220;This House believes that\u00a0progressive politicians in conservative societies should pander to bigots, racists, hardline conservatives and others with regressive views in attempting to win elections.&#8221; and won against\u00a0MIPT A (<strong>Sergie Bazylik<\/strong>, <strong>Daria Zelenina<\/strong>) in Opening Government,\u00a0SNUDA A (<strong>Sangwoo Park<\/strong>, <strong>Kyungmi Lee<\/strong>) in Closing Government and\u00a0Binus International (<strong>Melissa Irene<\/strong>, <strong>Wilson Salim<\/strong>) in Closing Opposition.
