HDDc – winners of the tournament \u00a9 Private<\/p><\/div><\/p>\n
The International Worlds Schools tournament Ljutomer, Slovenia was won by the team\u00a0HDDc <\/em>(Marija Jarnjak<\/strong> \/ Hrvoje Kozic<\/strong> \/ Maja Roglic<\/strong>).They debated the final on the motion “THBT we should boycott comedians who poke fun at minority stereotypes” in proposition against the team\u00a0Bezigrad Green Stars<\/em> (Reja Debevc<\/strong> \/ Matija Pusnik<\/strong> \/ Filip Koro<\/strong>) from Slovenia in opposition.<\/p>\n Government won the debate with a very emotional case about the importance to protect minorities. Opposition argued against that on a principle level of how making fun about everyone means equality, as well as about the connecting factor of jokes and political correctness.<\/p>\n The final was judged by Sharmila Parmanand<\/strong>, Claire Ryan<\/strong> and Bedrich Bluma<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Iza Jerman<\/strong> from the team Logos<\/em> from Slovenia was declared best speaker.<\/p>\n The Break:<\/strong><\/p>\n 1. HDDc<\/em> (Marija Jarnjak \/ Hrvoje Kozic \/ Maja Roglic; Croatia) 6 wins Slovenian President Borut Pahor – \u00a9 ZIP<\/p><\/div>\n 2017 marks 20 years of debating in Slovenia. To celebrate and honor this, the president of Slovenia, Borut Pahor<\/strong>, was the opening speaker of the tournament. He spoke about the importance of being able to express ones thoughts clearly and about why this should be done in a foreign language and the native.<\/p>\n The CAs were Bojana Skrt<\/strong>\u00a0from Slovenia,\u00a0Sharmila Parmanand\u00a0from the Philippine and Claire Ryan<\/strong> from New Zealand. The tournament was hosted by\u00a0Liana Miholi\u010d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Motions:<\/strong><\/p>\n Round 1<\/strong>:\u00a0THBT the US should shift its foreign policy toward Russia to cooperation instead of isolation. (Prepared)<\/p>\n Round 2<\/strong>: THBT Prisoners should be allowed to raise their children in prison. (Impro)<\/p>\n Round 3<\/strong>: THBT Graffitti writing is a legitimate way of expressing political opinion. (Impro)<\/p>\n Round 4<\/strong>: TH would not listen to musics containing lyrics that glorify violent and criminal lifestyles. (Impro)<\/p>\n Round 5<\/strong>: THBT Feminist organisations should not accept male members. (Prepared)<\/p>\n Round 6<\/strong>:\u00a0THBT we should boycott comedians who poke fun at minority stereotypes. (Prepared)<\/p>\n Quarter Final<\/strong>: THBT it is better for revolutionary leaders and their family members in post-conflict states to not seek political office.<\/p>\n Semi Final<\/strong>:\u00a0THBT the US should shift its foreign policy toward Russia to cooperation instead of isolation.
