EDS A – Winner of the Tilburg Women’s Open – \u00a9 Private<\/p><\/div><\/p>\n

The Tilburg Women’s Open 2017 was won by EDS A<\/em> (Emma van der Horst,<\/strong> Migle Povilenaite<\/strong>; Rotterdam) in Opening Government on the motion “TH supports the Rise of Left-Wing Populism in Europe”<\/em>. They won over Groningen A<\/em> (Linsey Keur,<\/strong> Lise van der Meer<\/strong>) in Opening Opposition, Underpreped & Overdressed<\/em> (Lydia Vlagsma,<\/strong> Ike Lieshout<\/strong>; Nijmegen) in\u00a0Closing Government\u00a0<\/em>and Bonaparte A (Marike Breed,<\/strong> Harriet Bergman<\/strong>) in\u00a0Closing Government.<\/p>\n

The final was judged by Dee N\u00ed Churn\u00e1in<\/strong> as chair together with Rom\u00e9e Lind,<\/strong> Annabelle van Beusekom<\/strong>, Olivia Sundberg Diez<\/strong> and Gigi Gil<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Marike Breed was announced as best speaker of the tournament with an average of\u00a077.3 points.\u00a0Lucia Beloqui Larumbe<\/strong> from Delft University was best novice speaker.<\/p>\n

Tilburg Women’s Open was the first Women’s tournament in the Netherlands. The CAs were\u00a0Dee N\u00ed Churn\u00e1in,\u00a0Olivia Sundberg Diez and Gigi Gil. Annabelle van Beusekom was equity officer.<\/p>\n

The tournament was organized by Cicero, the debating society of Tilburg with\u00a0Laura Verloop\u00a0<\/strong>and Naomi Coldenhof<\/strong> as the conveners.<\/p>\n

The Break<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Groningen A(Linsey Keur &\u00a0Lise van der Meer) – 14 team points<\/li>\n
  2. Bonaparte A (Marike Breed &\u00a0Harriet Bergman)\u00a0<\/strong>– 12 team points<\/li>\n

  4. Underprepped & Overdressed (Lydia Vlagsma &\u00a0Ike Lieshout)- 11 team points<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The Motions:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

    R1:<\/strong> TH regrets the personal criticism of Trumps wife and family members in the mainstream media.<\/p>\n

    R2:\u00a0<\/strong>Info Slide: A Hamsterdam is an area in a city where the purchase, sale and consumption of drugs is decriminalized.<\/em><\/p>\n

    THW create Hamsterdams in areas with high drug-related crimes (e.g. Chicago, Los Angeles).<\/p>\n

    R3:\u00a0<\/strong>Info-Slide: Non-romantic co-parenting is the decision to live and raise a child together with a stranger (often selected through matching web sides) as opposed to traditional families, which typically involve a romantic interest.<\/em><\/p>\n

    TH prefers a world where people choose non-romantic co-parenting over romantic co-parenting.<\/p>\n

    R4:<\/strong> THBT any aquestition of wealth above a comfortable standard of living is immoral.<\/p>\n

    R5:\u00a0<\/strong>Info-Slide: Tiger Schooling is the encouragement and pressure on students to reach their highest possible academic potential and take on the most challenging degrees within their capacity<\/em><\/p>\n

    TH supports tiger schooling.<\/p>\n

    R6:<\/strong> THW never negotiate with terrorists.<\/p>\n

    Final:<\/strong> TH supports the Rise of Left-Wing Populism in Europe.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
