The tournament was chief-adjudicated by <strong>Monica Forman<\/strong>, <strong>Stefan Siridzanski<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Etsuko Lim<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Alex Moise<\/strong> and <strong>Ilija Ivanisevic<\/strong>. The conveners were <strong>Tamara Vesic<\/strong>, <strong>Riza Bajram<\/strong> and <strong>Jovan Petronijevic<\/strong>. Mastering five in-rounds of debate on one day, it differentiated itself through both locally-themed motions as well as local Serbian food. PEP IV 2017 was also characterized by wide-spread support for Budapest-based demonstrations to preserve Central European University, expressing itself in group pictures and buttons labeled <em>#IstandwithCEU<\/em> and discussions and updates on the topi<em>c<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Break:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><em>Vienna A<\/em> (<strong>Vinicius Bremer<\/strong>, <strong>Dariusch Klett<\/strong>) \u2013 15 points<\/li>\n<li><em>Belgrade A<\/em> (<strong>Milos Marjanovic<\/strong>, <strong>Teodora Resetar<\/strong>) \u2013 12 points<\/li>\n<li><em>Vienna Z<\/em> (Miri Muntean, Mark Etzel) \u2013 11 points<\/li>\n<li><em>DK Wien B<\/em> (<strong>Paul Reiter<\/strong>, <strong>Katja Schager<\/strong>) \u2013 11 points<\/li>\n<li><em>Bard College Berlin A<\/em> (John Kay, Matt Caito) \u2013 10 points<\/li>\n<li><em>St. Gallen University A<\/em> (Jan-Gunther Gosselke, Katarina Kuzman) \u2013 10 points<\/li>\n<li><em>Belgrade B<\/em> (Djordje Jovicevic, <strong>Aleksandra Mihajlovic<\/strong>) \u2013 10 points<\/li>\n<li>CEC A (Kristina Georgieva, Monika Naydenova) <em>\u2013<\/em> 10 points<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Also on 10 points but not breaking was <em>Istanbul Meridyen A<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Semi Finals:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SF 1: Vienna A (OG), DK Wien B (OO), Bard College Berlin A (CG), CEC A (CO)<\/p>\n<p>SF 2: Belgrade A (OG), St. Gallen University A (OO), Vienna Z (CG), Belgrade B (CO)<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Final:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>St. Gallen University A (OG), Vienna Z (OO), CEC A (CG), Bard College Berlin A (CO)<\/p>\n<p><strong>The motions:<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Rd 1<\/strong>: This House Would fully subsidize gender reassignment surgery for pubescent teenagers regardless of parental consent.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rd 2<\/strong>: <em>Info Text: All theaters in Israel receive huge governmental subsidies. Theater companies are required to tour the entire country.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This House Believes that Israel should fine actors who refuse to perform in settlements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rd 3<\/strong>: <em>Info Text: China&#8217;s &#8216;Social Credit System&#8217; intends to use data to measure each citizen&#8217;s pro- or anti social behaviour (as decided by the Chinese government). China intends to use it to reward and sacntion its citizens.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This House Believes that the U.S. should hack China&#8217;s &#8216;Social Credit System&#8217; in order to disrupt it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rd 4<\/strong>: <em>Info Text: Republika Srpska is an entity in Bosnia &amp; Herzegovina. It is populated mostly by ethnic Serbs, while the rest of Bosnia is populated mostly by ethnic Bosniaks and Croats.
