The Trinity Open 2017 was won by\u00a0Cambridge B\u00a0<\/em>(Etsuko Lim<\/strong> &\u00a0Katherine Dunbar<\/strong>) in Closing Government. They debated against\u00a0Oxford Tecks and Sophie\u00a0<\/em>(Teck Wei Tan<\/strong> & Sophie Large<\/strong>) in Opening Government,\u00a0 Upgrading from Aodhan (<\/em>Adam Stairs<\/strong> & Cl\u00edodhna N\u00ed Ch\u00e9ileachair<\/strong>, UCD Law)\u00a0in Opening Opposition and Edinburgh A<\/em> (Tim Squirre<\/strong>l & Nish Hegde<\/strong>) in Closing Opposition on the motion “You are an author who has just been granted a power such that any book you write would be taken as gospel by all who read it. THW retire”.<\/p>\n

The panel of the Final was Dee Courtney<\/strong> as chair, Rory Flynn<\/strong>, Duncan Crowe<\/strong>, Orla Delaney<\/strong> and Izzy Sweeney<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Best speaker of the tournament was Sophie Large with an average of 82.2.<\/p>\n

The tournament was CAed by\u00a0Lorna Staines<\/strong>, Orla Delaney, Owen Mooney\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Rory Flynn.<\/p>\n

The tournament was organized by Trinity Historical<\/strong> and Trinity Philosophical Society<\/strong> and convened by Julie Davis<\/strong>, Hannah-Sofia Cogan<\/strong>, Connor O’Malley<\/strong>, Harry Higgins<\/strong>, Jane D’Altuin<\/strong> and Andrew Conolly<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
