\"CambridgeThe Cambridge IV 2017 preliminary rounds concluded similar to the Oxford IV, with Tel Aviv AD<\/em> again breaking first, this time on 13 points. Dan Lahav<\/strong> again topped the open speaker tab – this time accompanied by Darion Hotan <\/strong>of KCL A<\/em>, both averaging an 83.6 that begged belief. Dan Lahav was once again the top ESL speaker. Xavier Redmond<\/strong>, of Oxford RK<\/em>, was the top novice speaker with an average of 79.<\/p>\n

In the final round, Tel Aviv AD<\/em> (Ayal Hayut-Man<\/strong>, Dan Lahav) won from Opening Government defending the motion that “This house believes that it is always immoral to fight for one’s country.” In Opening Opposition was Stanford B<\/em> (David Slater, Camilo Ruiz<\/strong>); in Closing Government, KCL A<\/em> (Darion Hotan, Sam van Elk<\/strong>); and in Closing Opposition, Oxford C<\/em> (Louis Collier, Bryan Yan<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

Judging the debate was chair Harish Natarajan<\/b>, accompanied by Michael Dunn Goekjian, Ameera Natasha Moore, Katie Heard, Owen Mooney, Gavin Tucker,<\/strong> and Duncan Crowe<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In the ESL Final, Munich A<\/em> (Melda Eren, Philipp Muller<\/strong>) won from Closing Government regretting “the use of the term “moderate muslim” by Muslims to identify themselves.” The motion was presented by an Opening Government of Belgrade A<\/em> (Milo\u0161 Marjanovi\u0107, Aleksandra Mihajlovic<\/strong>), and opposed by Opening Opposition SNSPA A<\/em> (Andrei Olaru, Serban Pitic<\/strong>) and Closing Opposition Oxford D<\/em> (Vikki Perijainen, Ana Vilhelmina Verdnik<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

Thomas Simpson<\/strong> chaired the ESL Final, with a panel of George Clay, Etsuko Lim, Matt Hankin, Matt Hazell, Ian Wu<\/strong>, and Luc\u00eda Arce<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Chief Adjudication Team of the Cambridge Intervarsity consisted of Ameera Natasha Moore, Etsuko Lim, Michael Dunn Goekjian, and John Papantoniou<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
