The Rotterdam Open (24.-25.03.2018) ist over and the results are here: In the Open Final, the team Cheaper than Couple’s therapy<\/em> (Marike Breed<\/strong>, Amsterdam & Roel Becker<\/strong>, Leiden) took the win as Closing Government on the motion “THW implement a system of \u2018lease of life\u2019 for all products of manufacture (such as: shoes, phones and machines).<\/em>” The motion had an infotext (see below). They debated against Spatha A<\/em> (Emma Lucas<\/strong> & David Metz<\/strong>, Leiden) in Opening Government, Stormy Daaniels plus one loyal customer<\/em> (Floris Holstege<\/strong>, Leiden & Daan Welling<\/strong>, Leiden\/Nijmegen alumnus) in Opening Opposition and DSDC Red<\/em> (Urmi Palatsingh<\/strong> & Cato Brinkhof<\/strong>, Dutch Schools Foundation) in Closing Opposition. The open final was adjudicated by Eilidh McCreath<\/strong> as chair, along with Bethany Garry<\/strong>, Daniel Klein<\/strong>, Simone Eizagirre<\/strong> and Sonia Veltkamp<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Pro-Am-Final was won by the team The Undebateables<\/em> (Reeti Sarkar<\/strong> & Dhaval Shah<\/strong>, Delft) as Opening Opposition on the motion “THS the creation of private primary and secondary schools in developing nations.<\/em>” They won against Send me your dijk pics!<\/em> (Helena Hecke<\/strong> & Leonie da Col<\/strong>, Cologne) in Opening Government, Mixed Maastricht Arts<\/em> (Frederic Augustin<\/strong> & Mishael Qadeer<\/strong>, Maastricht) in Closing Government and Ni\u00f1as picantes<\/em> (Lisa Knodt<\/strong> & Elisa de la Serna<\/strong>, Maastricht) in Closing Opposition. The PAF was adjudicated by Simone Eizagirre as chair, along with Bethany Garry, Fabienne Ellemeet<\/strong>, Fenna ten Haaf<\/strong> and Migle Povilenaite<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Novice Final was won by the team GDS Kalliope Mosterdsoep<\/em> (Jeffrey Schulman<\/strong> & Anna Ksiazczakov\u00e1<\/strong>, Groningen). They won as Opening Opposition on the motion “THR the narrative that an artist must suffer in order to create great art.<\/em>” Competing against them were the teams Florida<\/em> (Florent Erbar<\/strong> & Ida Holschbach<\/strong>, Cologne) in Opening Government, Leiden MZ<\/em> (Lucy McManus<\/strong> & Zita Zena<\/strong>, Leiden) in Closing Government and Wise words wizards<\/em> (Quentin Hagen<\/strong> & Adriano La Gioia<\/strong>, Solvay) in Closing Opposition. Adjudicating the Novice Final were Huyen Nguyen<\/strong> as chair, Cindy Wilhelm<\/strong>, Nastia Grishkova<\/strong>, Niels Buijssen<\/strong> and Roel Schoenmakers<\/strong>. The team DSDC Marit & Twink<\/em> (Marit van den Helder<\/strong> & Twink van Ling<\/strong>, Dutch Schools Foundation) originally was 4th in the novice break but had to leave early, allowing the Wise words wizards to\u00a0 participate in the Novice Final instead. <\/span><\/p>\n
