The Novi Sad EUDC, lasting 30.07.-05.08.18, came to an impressive conclusion: Teams from Tel Aviv won both the ESL (English as a Second Language) and the Open final! The ESL dominance continued with – originally Mexican – debater Luc\u00eda Arce, starting for Sheffield, being both top speaker in ESL and in total. In the ESL final stood the teams Moscow 1<\/em> (Mikhail Shuganov<\/strong>, Ivan Veliantsei<\/strong>) in Opening Government, Zagreb 1<\/em>\u00a0(Tin Pulji\u0107<\/strong>, Lovro <\/strong>\u0160prem<\/strong>)<\/span> in Opening Opposition, Tel Aviv 2<\/em> (Amichay Even Chen<\/strong>, Ido Kotler<\/strong>) in Closing Government and Leiden 1<\/em> (Jeroen Wijnen<\/strong>, Rom\u00e9e Lind<\/strong>) in Closing Opposition to the motion “This House supports the promotion of collective guilt after large scale crimes against humanity.<\/em>” Adjudicating the ESL final were Cl\u00edodhna N\u00ed Ch\u00e9ileachair<\/strong> in the chair, joined by Brian Wong<\/strong>, Clyde Welsh<\/strong>, Eitan Har-Oz<\/strong>, Matt Hazell<\/strong>, Melda Eren<\/strong> and Raffy Marshall<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In the Open final stood the teams LSE 1<\/em> (Ciara Mitchell<\/strong>, Sarah Tay<\/strong>) in Opening Government, Tel Aviv 1<\/em> (Tom Manor<\/strong>, Noam Dahan<\/strong>) in Opening Opposition, BPP 1 (Jamie Jackson<\/strong>, Muhammad Asadullah Khan<\/strong>) in Closing Government and Oxford 3\u00a0(Louis Collier<\/strong>, Rosa Thomas<\/strong>) in Closing Opposition to the motion “This house regrets the shift in the #<\/span>MeToo<\/span><\/span> movement from victims sharing their experiences to holding specific public figures to account.<\/em>” The Open final had Owen Mooney<\/strong> in the chair, joined by Ameera Natasha Moore<\/strong>, Benji Kalman<\/strong>, Danny DeBois<\/strong>, Emma Lucas<\/strong>, Janko Djordjevic<\/strong>, and Ybo Buruma<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

R2:<\/strong> THBT State Health Services should allow private companies to run hospitals for profit.<\/p>\n

R3:<\/strong> THBT the State should fund the creation of, and access to, realistic androids that simulate romantic relationships.<\/p>\n

R4:<\/strong> THR the glorification of the immediate postcolonial leaders in Sub-Saharan Africa.<\/p>\n

R5:<\/strong> THBT South Korea should abandon the goal of, and all policies which aim at, Korean reunification.<\/p>\n

R6:<\/strong> THR the increasing trend of popular shows featuring neurodivergence as the central theme.<\/p>\n

Information: Neurodivergence refers to those whose psychology is non standard, e.g. for reasons of mental health, mental disability, etc.<\/em><\/p>\n

R7:<\/strong> TH, as Colombia, would cease cooperation with the USA in the War Against Drugs.<\/p>\n

R8:<\/strong> THBT artists should not participate in the ongoing interpretation of their art.<\/p>\n
