They debated the final on the motion &#8220;This House opposes the propagation of Canadian exceptionalism&#8221; against <em>Harvard CH\u00a0<\/em>(<b>John Hunt, Sophia Caldera<\/b>) in Opening Government,\u00a0<em>Yale AC<\/em> (<strong>William Arnesen, Ko Lyn Cheang<\/strong>) in\u00a0Closing Government, and\u00a0<em>Cornell KW\u00a0<\/em>(<b>Jin Mo Koo, Emma Rose Wirshing<\/b>) in Closing\u00a0Opposition.<\/p>\n<p>The final was chaired by\u00a0<strong>Mo Niaz\u00a0<\/strong>with\u00a0<strong>Alexandra Sundarsingh, James Hardy, Julia Milden, and\u00a0Meghan Auckland.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Novice Final of the tournament was won by\u00a0<i>\u00a0Western DX\u00a0<\/i>(<b>Vidit Desal, Emily Xie<\/b>) in Closing Government, on the motion &#8220;With the goal of improving representation in media, this House would create original characters who belong to underrepresented groups, rather than re-imagine existing characters&#8221;. Other participants in that final were <em>Marianopolis AF<\/em> (<strong>Jerren Fefer, Nabeel\u00a0Ahmed<\/strong>) in Opening Government,\u00a0<em>Queens NN<\/em>\u00a0(<strong>Adil Natalwalla, Anneliese Ng<\/strong>) in Opening Opposition, and\u00a0<em>Duke KS<\/em>\u00a0(<strong>Harish Korapatti, Chris Sheerer<\/strong>) in Closing Opposition. The $110 billion agreement included Saudi Arabian pledges to purchase tanks, fighter jets, combat ships and a missile defense system. The US also provides intelligence, military advice and logistical support to Saudi Arabia\u2019s offensive in Yemen.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This House, as the US, would stop all arms sales, military support, and other aid to Saudi Arabia<\/p>\n<p><strong>Round 4: <\/strong>This House would prefer a world where memory is permanent and infallible.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Round 5: <\/strong>This House opposes the continued progress towards deep global economic integration (e.g. very low tariffs and free movement of capital and labour across borders).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Quarter-Final: <\/strong><em>Infoslide: There is no provision in the United States Constitution restricting the number of justices on the Supreme Court. Congress is empowered to change the number of justices on the Court by passing a law to that effect.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Provided that it wins control of Congress and the White House, this House believes that the Democratic Party should increase the number of justices on the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Semi-Final: <\/strong>This House believes that the liberalization of sexual behaviour prompted by the sexual revolution fails women today<\/p>\n<p><strong>Novice Final: <\/strong>With the goal of improving representation in media, this House would create original characters who belong to underrepresented groups, rather than re-imagine existing characters<\/p>\n<p><strong>Final: <\/strong><em>Info Slide<\/em>:<em> Canadian exceptionalism refers to the belief that Canada is morally superior to other nations, especially the US, by virtue of being more peaceful, more reasonable and more tolerant and inclusive.
