The Pan-American Universities Debate Championships 2019 was hosted in Panama on April 19 – 22 and featured both English and Spanish language divisions.<\/p>\n
The Spanish language final was won by Cornell A<\/em> (Leo Grageda, Aurelien Salas<\/strong>) in Opening Government. Competing against them was PUCP A<\/em> (Omar Espinoza, Jose Arturo Tipismana<\/strong>) in Opening Opposition, UdeG A<\/em> (Itzcoatl Ilhuitcatl Bravo Rosas, Daniel Cuauhtli Aguilar Yanez<\/strong>) in Closing Government, and ITESM CEM A\u00a0<\/em>(Jubal Esteban Paez Belmonte, Mariana Morales Urbina<\/strong>) in Closing Opposition on the motion “ECCQ el involucramientode Estados Unidos en Panama (presencia militar, influencia cultural, relaciones economicas estrechas, etc) beneficia a los panamenos.”<\/p>\n The debate was chaired by Juanita Hincapie<\/strong>, with a panel of Julio Meyer, Laura Martinez, Nathania Engelhardt<\/strong>, and Randall Martinez<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Middlebury A in the Pan American English Division Final (c) Amanda Werner<\/p><\/div>\n The English language final was won by Middlebury A<\/em> (Charlotte Massey, Nate Obbard<\/strong>) from Closing Opposition, opposing the motion “THS countries granting rights to nature”.
