They won the grand final out of Closing Opposition, speaking against\u00a0 <em>UPD 2\u00a0<\/em>(Alia Yao, Clarice Tee) in Opening Government,\u00a0<em>NUS 1\u00a0<\/em>(<strong>Tao En Qi, Shaun Lee<\/strong>) in Opening Opposition), and\u00a0<em>Taylor&#8217;s 1\u00a0<\/em>(<strong>Har Naveenjeet Singh, Ploopy<\/strong>) in Closing Government. The final was chaired by\u00a0<strong>Piali Bopanno.\u00a0<\/strong>Judging with them were\u00a0<strong>Boby Andika Ruitang, Connor O&#8217;Brien, Dominic, EnTing Lee, Erica Liu, Fardeen Ameen, Taha Iqbal, Udai Kamanth. <\/strong>The motion read &#8220;TH, as the feminist movement, would advocate for aggressive government intervention to counteract behaviours which the feminist movement determines are predominantly the outcome of adaptive preference&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The EFL Final was won by\u00a0<em>UGM B <\/em>(<strong>Muhammad Rizki Akbar Lubis, Muhammad Zufar Farhan Zuhdi<\/strong>) in Closing Government. It broke to Partial &#8211; Octofinals and to EFL Semifinals. The tournament was convened by Malaysia Institute for Debate &amp; Public Speaking. The Chief Adjudication Panel included<strong> Inna Fermin, Sher May Nar, Khalis Khalid, Connor O&#8217;Brien,<\/strong> and <strong>Sourodip Paul.<\/strong> Tabulation was done by <strong>Albert Kamahlendra, Tasdid Tahsin<\/strong>. The full tab is available <a href=\"https:\/\/abp2020.calicotab.com\/abp2020\/\">here.<\/a> Additionally, several rounds including both finals were streamed and can be found on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/c\/MIDPToday\/videos\">Youtube<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Motions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>R1: <\/strong><em>Infoslide: Historical redress comprises restitution (the return of unjustly appropriated items), compensation (transfers of resources made in acknowledgement of unjust appropriations), and apologies or memorial events for practices that are now deemed injustices, but which have ceased for a considerable time, and\/or whose victims are now deceased.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>THBT historically discriminated groups should abandon narratives of historical redress in their campaign for equality.<\/p>\n<p><strong>R2:<\/strong>\u00a0<em>Infoslide: <\/em><em>The United States Democratic Party leadership constitutes the Democratic Party&#8217;s Congressional Leaders and the Democratic Party&#8217;s Presidential and Vice-Presidential Nominees. &#8216;Procedurally activist&#8217; congressional tactics include but are not limited to court-packing, strategically using or abolishing the filibuster, adding states, using impeachment to delay senate judicial confirmation proceedings, and overriding executive orders.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>THBT the Democratic Party leadership should publicly commit to using &#8216;procedurally activist&#8217; congressional tactics to pursue their policy objectives.<\/p>\n<p><strong>R3<\/strong>: <em>Infoslide:<\/em> <em>Coercive powers include the power to levy economic and financial sanctions and to stage interventions. These interventions could constitute sending information-gathering teams (which are analogous to weapons inspectors that enforce nuclear non-proliferation and anti-chemical weapons treaties) and medical teams to reinforce public health systems. The World Health Organization (WHO) makes a wide variety of policy recommendations during epidemics and pandemics regarding disease outbreak reporting, travel and trade restrictions, and lockdown measures<\/em><\/p>\n<p>THW grant the WHO, in times of crisis, coercive powers to gather information about suspected infectious disease outbreaks and to enforce its policy recommendations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>R4: <\/strong><em>Infoslide: The real economy concerns the production, purchase and flow of goods and services (like oil, bread and labour) within an economy.
