Second time in a row, they won the Gutenberg Cup, the annual tournament of <strong>Debattierclub Johannes Gutenberg Mainz <\/strong>(DCJG). The motion of the final round reads \u201cDo we need a new Robin Hood?\u201d, where the debaters from T\u00fcbingen defeated a home team from Mainz. Best speaker of the final was <strong>Hauke Blume<\/strong> who fought in the final round as <em>free speaker<\/em>, i.e. a speaker with no beforehand appointed position in the debate, a characteristic of the <a href=\"http:\/\/opd.streitkultur.net\/\">German format OPD (Open Parliamentary Debate)<\/a> in addition to the usual pro and con fractions.<\/p>\n<p>Mainz has now been stage to the Gutenberg Cup for the third time in a row. The open competition saw a line-up of fifteen teams from Germany. The semi finals, besides the finalists, witnessed teams from both Munich and Heidelberg. The motions of this open comprise fun motions only since Mainz is one of the capitals of carnival.<\/p>\n<p>The team that was defeated by Streitkultur T\u00fcbingen was formed by <strong>Clemens Fucker<\/strong>, <strong>Marietta G\u00e4deke<\/strong> and <strong>Alwin Gerner<\/strong>; free speakers in the final were of course Hauke plus <strong>Gregor Steinhagen<\/strong>, <strong>Valerio Morelli <\/strong>and <strong>Wladislaw Jachtchenko<\/strong> \u2013 the latter two scored the same speaker points after semi finals. While an OPD debate usually only hosts three free speakers and thus the two should have drawn the lots, this final was an exception: the audience decided they wanted to see four free speakers.
