Heidelberg, Berlin and Mainz are Regional Champions 2012
We proudly present the winners of this year’s German regionals:
Heidelberg won the Southern German regional.
Berlin won the Northern German regional.
Mainz won the Middle German regional.
Congrats to everyone!
In the South, Wiebke Nadler und Till Kroeger from Debating Club Heidelberg defeated Teams from Munich an Vienna. Jakob Reiter (Debattierklub Wien) was awarded most popular speaker of the final; Sven Hirschfeld (Heidelberg) and Konrad Gütschow (Tübingen) topped the tab.
In the North, Georg Sommerfeld and Johannes Häger from BDU Berlin defeated Teams from Potsdam and other Teams from Berlin. Jonas Werner was awarded best speaker of the final.

WUDC 2012: Tag 5 – Das Council tagte
New year's daywas quiet at World Universities Debating Championships (WUDC or Worls) in Manila:Most debater had the chance to take a tour around the Philippinian capital, relaxed and hang out at the hotel. That was not true today for the national delegates. They had to sit in the WUDC Council where they decide about a new Council president, the confirmation of the current bid for next Worlds and the bid for the Worlds after that.

WUDC 2012: Starting now!
Debaters from all over the world are flocking in to Manila, Philippines. From 27 December 2011 to 4 January 2012, they assemble at De La Salle University (DLSU) to compete for the title of the World Universities Debating Championships (WUDC or Worlds).
From under the roof of VDCH there will be the following debating society competing with around 400 teams from about 70 countries - all in a peaceful competition, the WUDC 2012 or DLSU Worlds:

The Berlin Debating Union announced the Berlin World's DCAs. Victor Finkel, Isabelle Fischer (former Loewe) and James Kilcup are Berlin World's DCAs, Jens Fischer is Tabmaster. Congrats! Doug Cochran and Sharmila Parmanand are the Berlin World's CAs.
We are very happy to see the newly wed Jens and Isa Fischer as DCA and Tabmaster and use the opportunity to congratulate them to their wedding!

Berlin wins ZEIT DEBATTE Karlsruhe
Great start into the ZEIT DEBATTEN season 2011/2012 for Berlin Debating Union. Their speakers Georg Sommerfeld, Patrick Ehmann and Johannes Häger won the ZEIT DEBATTE's final against Marco Niedermaier, Lukas Windhager and Almut Graebsch who were competing for Debattierclub München. Georg Sommerfeld was the best speaker of the final. The motion was: Do we need the United Staates of Europe? The final was completed by the free speakers Willy Witthaut (Mainz), Sven Hirschfeld (Heidelberg) and Irene Adamski (Halle). Just 15 months until the global debating community is going to assemble in Berlin from December 27, 2012 until January 4, 2013 to compete for the title of the World Universities Debating Championships (WUDC or Worlds).
