All stars tournament in Vermont
Apply for the all stars tournament! The International Debate Association (IDEA) und die Hobart and William Smith Colleges (HWS) invite debaters from all over the world to the University of Vermont where a tournament of the masters is to be held on 8 and 9 April 2011. Occasion is the IDEA/HWS Round Robin, invitees are the 16 top teams of the world who have won one or more of the competitions listed below. Language of the tournament is of course English, format is the British Parliametary Style. Teams will be paired in round robin, i.e. every team is going to face any other team in prelims. Leela Koenig from the Netherlands will be chief adjudicator, she held the same office at the Amsterdam Euros in 2010. The convenors guarantee three top judges in every room who broke at previous WUDC. If you haven’t got an invitation to IDEA/HWS Round Robin like the teams who won the Yale IV for instance send an e-mail to convenor Eric Barnes at barnes[at]hws.edu to apply for participation.

The IDEA/HWS Round Robin has been held annually since 2007. Invitees are the winners of the biggest and most renown competitions in the world. Winners will be awarded a cash prize as well as trophies. The winning team will get 1.000 US-Dollar, the second team will get 500 Dollar.

The tournament will actually be held at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, not the university of Vermont. I assume though that since the US BP championships are occurring the prior week teams can go to both tournaments
