Masters’ Cup 2012 in Eisenach
Let’s roll with the Masters’ Cup 2012 at Eisenach - registration opens now! On September 28 and 29, the Thuringian town where Martin Luther translated the New Testament into German will be the stage for the annual debating tournament of the Deutsche Debattiergesellschaft (DDG), the German alumni association for debaters. MDD 2012: Tobias Kube awarded best junior speaker
Tobias Kube from Marburg was awarded best junior speaker at this year's German language debating championship (Meisterschaft im deutschsprachigen Debattieren or MDD) in Vienna. This award is a cup engraved with the names of all former laureates. It is assigned by the German alumni debating society DDG (short for Deutsche Debattiergesellschaft) since 2004. Masters’ Cup 2011: Lukas Haffert may now call himself Master of the Masters
At the Masters' Cup in the famous fortress of Wartburg in the middle of the Thuringian Forest, Lukas Haffert defeated his competitors. His fellow finalists were Marietta Gädeke, Torsten Rössing and Marcus Ewald. Lukas may now call himself Master of the Masters. The exclusive tourney is hosted by Deutsche Debattiergesellschaft (DDG), the German alumni debating society.
The motions read as follows:

Today over 50 debaters arrive in Eisenach, where this years's Masters' Cup starts today. The Masters’ Cup is the annual tournament which is staged at Eisenach since 2005. Sina Strupp – up and coming
Sina Strupp was awarded for being the most promising debater new on the German language deating circuit at the German Language Debating Championship in Heidelberg in June this year. Deutsche Debattiergesellschaft, the alumni debating society of Germany, grants this award every year to one of the up-and-coming debaters. Masters’ Cup 2010: CA Team nominated
Gudrun Lux, president of Deutsche Debattiergesellschaft (DDG), the German alumni association for debaters, announced the CA team of Masters' Cup 2011. Traditionally, one member each from VDCH and DDG executive boards are the chief adjudicators of Masters’ Cup. This year, this will be the recently elected president of VDCH Benedikt Nufer and Gudrun's deputy, DDG vice president Isabelle Loewe.

Masters’ Cup 2011
Anticipatory joy is the greatest joy: the date for the Masters' Cup 2011 has already been fixed! The tournament will be held from 23 to 24 September in Eisenach. Afterwards, on 25 September, this year's general meeting of the Deutsche Debattiergesellschaft (DDG) takes place.
There are a few preliminary rounds and the semis scheduled that will be fought out at Martin Luther grammar school. The final will take place at the historic Wartburg, which is a castle. On Friday evening there will be a visit to an Irish Pub, on Saturday evening the participants will have dinner at the Wartburg and ...

VDCH and DDG offer their condolences over the passing of Loki Schmidt
The boards of both the Association of Debating Societies at Universities (VDCH, Verband der Debattierclubs an Hochschulen) and the German Debating Society for alumni (DDG, Deutsche Debattiergesellschaft) offer their condolences to former federal chancellor Helmut Schmidt over the passing of his wife. Loki Schmidt passed in the night of Oct. 21st at the age of 91. The couple had been married since 1942. Helmut Schmidt is a long-term supporter of German debating, and in 2007 became the patron of the ZEIT-DEBATTEN-series, organized by the VDCH.
