In the final of the Ljubljana IV 2019, the team We don’t know any stuff like this (Tin Puljić, Luka Petrović) of the Zagreb Student Debate Forum was able to take the victory out of Closing Opposition. They defeated Bulshit EPL IONA Principal (Lucy Murphy, Filip Stanarčić) in Opening Government, Remember Round Two (Katharina Jansen, Uzair Tajuddin) in Opening Opposition and It’s not racist, it’s fiscally responsible (Nick Zervoudis, Miri Muntean) in Closing Government. The debate on the motion “THW release the evidence (incl. Infoslide)” was judged by Rok Hafner (chair), Emilia Wojcik, Marta Vasić, Matija Pušnik and Linus Kienmoser.

Best speaker of the tournament was Tin Puljić with an average of 82.79 speaker points.

The five-round-tournament with a break to Semis was organised by the University of Ljubljana Debate Society and featured 32 teams. Ivan Koruza and Rok Hafner acted as main conveners while the Chief Adjudication panel consisted of Jure Hederih, Lovro Sprem and Gigi Gil.

The Motions:

R1: THO the demonisation of nationalism.

R2: THBT climate change movements should prioritise constructive policy proposals over criticism and obstruction of current policies.

R3: THBT sports assocciation’s ultimate goal should be the integration of women into mixed teams rather than achieving parity between male and female teams.

R4: THBT it was against the interest of Syrian Kurds to align themselves with the West in the Syrian Civil War.

R5: THW never allow parents to make medical decisions for their children that contradict the medical consensus.

SF: THR the integration of PR China into the global economy.
