Debating by the beautiful Croatian Adria – offered at the Split Union Open from May 13 to 15. But there’s not only the sea, no! There is more: Four prelims with five-minute speeches and a break to finals with seven-minute speeches. While the preliminary rounds will be staged at the law faculty of Split, the final will be held on Peristil, a place where the Roman emperor Diocletian greeted his subjects in late 3rd, early 4th century.

Not only will there be ancient history, but also the present and the future – the chief adjudicating team comprises some of the finest selection of debaters the Balkans have to offer: CA of the Split Union Open will be Manos Moschopoulos (best speaker ESL at WUDC 2010, finalist at EUDC the same year), his deputies are Filip Muki Dobranić (best speaker ESL WUDC 2011, EUDC champion 2010), Milan Vignjević (ESL quarterfinalist WUDC and EUDC) and Lea Tafra (EFL finalist WUDC). Registration will open on March 21, to register send an e-mail to splitska [dot] debatna [dot] unija [at] gmail [dot] com. Registration fee is 35 € per person (debaters and judges) and includes accomodation for two nights, meals and entrance for social events venues. Since there is a team cap of 20 teams only, be quick to register, convenor Damir Barbir reminds you. More information on the Split Union Open will be available from the Facebook page of the event.
