Israeli Team wins the 2nd European Debates Conference

Dan Lahav and Yair Har-Oz won the Tilbury House IV – the 2nd European Debates Conference. They beat Osnabrück A (Stefan Torges, Jan Dirk Capelle), Maastricht Guess The Novice (Srdjan Miletic, Evelyn Svingen) and BDU Die schweigenden Lämmer (Rebecca Irvine, Philippe Holzhey) in the final, debating the motion “This House would ban anti EU parties from participating in the EU elections.”  The final was jugded by Senna Maatoug (Chair), Itay Ben Yair, John Harper, Leo Münstermann and Emma Hartholt.

The following teams broke to the semi-finals and debated the motion “This House believes that the German government should significantly fund films and tv shows that sympathetically depict the narratives of non-Jewish German civilians under the Nazi regime.”

6 BDU Die schweigenden Lämmer (Rebecca Irvine, Philippe Holzhey) on 10 P
7 Maastricht Guess the Novice (Srdjan Miletic, Evelyn Svingen) on 10 P
8 Huji A (Ido Kotler, Roy Schulman) on 9 P

The motions were:

R1: This House belives that the EU should send a single unified team to the next World Cup.

R2: This House would criminalise all forms of high school bullying (including physical, verbal, written, cyber bullying and boycotting).

R3: This House believes that donations to disease charities should be redistributed among these disease charities according to the number of people affected by each disease.

R4: This House supports the use of feminist catch phrases about freedom, empowerment and choice in ads of fashion and beauty products.

R5: This House believes that governments should tax individual income out of labour (paid salary) significantly less than individual’s income generated out of capital (which includes inheritance, real estate, stock portfolios, etc.).

SF: This House believes that the German government should significantly fund films and tv shows that sympathetically depict the narratives of non-Jewish German civilians under the Nazi regime.”

F: This House would ban anti EU parties from participating in the EU elections.
