“Should universities be privatised?” – Show debate in Munich

This will be the motion of the show debatte which is to be held on 7 February by the Debattierclub München. The debate starts at 19.30 hrs in room M 118 of the main building of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, Geschwister-Scholl-Platz 1, admission is free. The professors Prof. Dr. Stephan Lorenz, Prof. Dr. Gebhard Rehm (both teaching Law at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität) and Prof. Dr. Ekkart Zimmermann (Political science, Hochschule für Politik München) are going to call for privatisation of universities. Art has to be painful – HAZ reports on show debate in Hannover

The newspaper Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung (HAZ)reports on the show debate that was staged by Kestnergesellschaft and Debattierclub Hannover. The article can be found online - in German. The debate was hosted by Alexander Johnston, president of DC Hannover, and Jasmin Mickein of Kestnergesellschaft and member of DDG, the alumni association on the German debating circuit. Schobbe-Cup 2010: Debating and cider

Schobbe-Cup takes it second round hosted by the Frankfurt debating society Goethes Faust (DCGF). The tournament starts today well after lunch at 1 p.m., which lets the teams from all over Germany travel to Frankfurt conveniently. Fifteen teams of debaters from Berlin, Bonn, Dortmund, Jena, Heidelberg, Karlsruhe, Mainz, Munich, Münster, Paderborn, Potsdam, Stuttgart and Tübingen are going to compete for the Schobbe-Cup 2010. The style of debate is the well spread German format Offene Parlamentarische Debatte (OPD, open parliamentary debate).
