Mainz gewinnt die ZEIT DEBATTE AachenDas Team Mainz Anton (Andrea Gau/Daniil Pakhomenko) hat das Finale der ZEIT DEBATTE Aachen 2013 gewonnen. Als Besten Redner der Finales zeichnete die Ehren-Jury um Ulla Schmidt, Marcel Phillips, Prof. Martin Baumann, Florian Krämer und Philip Stiel Hauke Blume aus Berlin aus. In einem spannnenden Finale setzte sich das Team aus der Schließenden Regierung durch. Für die Ehrenjury lobte Prof. Baumann Haukes Redebeitrag, er hätte die Würze und Klarheit gehabt, die eine gute Rede braucht. 68 teams, seven prelims and a quarters round make up for semis in Vienna. Heidelberg, Berlin and Mainz are Regional Champions 2012

We proudly present the winners of this year’s German regionals: Heidelberg won the Southern German regional. Berlin won the Northern German regional. Mainz won the Middle German regional. Congrats to everyone! In the South, Wiebke Nadler und Till Kroeger from Debating Club Heidelberg defeated Teams from Munich an Vienna. Jakob Reiter (Debattierklub Wien) was awarded most popular speaker of the final; Sven Hirschfeld (Heidelberg) and Konrad Gütschow (Tübingen) topped the tab. In the North, Georg Sommerfeld and Johannes Häger from BDU Berlin defeated Teams from Potsdam and other Teams from Berlin. Jonas Werner was awarded best speaker of the final. Debating League enters its second round

The second season of the Free Debating League begins with two new coordinators Daniil Pakhomenko and Manuel Adams who succeed Lukas Haffert, the former vice-president of the Association of Debating Societies at Universities, or VDCH. FDL isa series of opens and smaller tournaments in addition to the big tournaments of the ZEIT DEBATTEN series. The first season's winner was the WUDC 2013 host Berlin Debating Union. xzy / apf
