"Visiting the most beautiful city in the world: Hamburg" - Franziska Städter reviews the ZEIT DEBATTE HamburgOver the weekend I have been up north, where I heared about a famous debater who could only surpass the fromidable beginning of his speech by his closing remarks. This modus vivendi holds true for the ZEIT DEBATTE Hamburg as well - a tournament which raised a lot of expectations, fullfilled them all and even went far beyond what was expected. Stuttgart (Nils Haneklaus, Michael Saliba, Igor Gilitschenski), Berlin (Annette Kirste, Georg Sommerfeld, Julian Ohm), Jena (Severin Weingarten, Jonathan Scholbach, Friederike Meyer zu Wendischhoff) and Mainz (Marina Freund, Max Fritz, Willy Witthaut) broke to semis. Severin Weingarten topped the tab. As Free Speakers broke Marc-André Schulz  (Aachen), Gabor Stefan, Almut Graebsch (beide München), Barbara Schunicht (Hamburg), Adrian Gombert (Münster) and Jan Ohmstedt (Heidelberg Debating). Berlin wins ZEIT DEBATTE Karlsruhe

Great start into the ZEIT DEBATTEN season 2011/2012 for Berlin Debating Union. Their speakers Georg Sommerfeld, Patrick Ehmann and Johannes Häger won the ZEIT DEBATTE's final against Marco Niedermaier, Lukas Windhager and Almut Graebsch who were competing for Debattierclub München. Georg Sommerfeld was the best speaker of the final. The motion was: Do we need the United Staates of Europe? The final was completed by the free speakers Willy Witthaut (Mainz), Sven Hirschfeld (Heidelberg) and Irene Adamski (Halle). The new ZEIT DEBATTEN series begins! This weekend, speakers and judges from all over VDCH-land flock at Karlsruhe. Language of the tournament, as in the whole series, is German, the ZEIT DEBATTE Karlsruhe will be held in Offene Parlamentarische Debatte (open parliamentary debate, OPD). ZEIT DEBATTE Stuttgart: Daniel Grotzky announced CA

Daniel Grotzky has been announced CA for ZEIT DEBATTE Stuttgart. As Nils Haneklaus from Debattierclub Stuttgart (DCS) informed Achte Minute, Daniel is going to replace Andrea Gau. Daniel is one of the most experienced debaters in Germany, he has been CA of Southern German Championships 2007 and 2010 and of the German Championship 2010. In the season of 2007/2008 Daniel was president of VDCH, the Association of Debating Societies at Universities, 2008/2009 of the German Debating Society for Alumni (DDG).
