Berlin Worlds: preliminary intermediate team results
A tab insight: Berlin Worlds' tabmaster Jens Fischer gives some information we used to collect and tweet in the past - and usually we only had them in parts. You may find here a table that shows you the team results after the six open preliminaries.
Of course: The details about the individual speaker points are still under wraps. All teams that have accumulated the same number of team points are simply listed alphabetically. And the tension remains: there are three preliminary rounds to go today - and the judges will not give feedback nor team points.

WUDC Countdown 6: „We should simply enjoy it“ – Interview with WUDC Deputy Chief Adjudicator Isabelle Fischer
Isabelle Fischer (born Loewe) is Deputy Chief Adjudicator (DCA) at this year’s World University Debating Championship in Berlin. She started debating in 2003, with the debating society of the University of Bonn and has been living in Berlin for five years. After her career as a debater, which led her into the final of the European Univerities Debating Championship in 2006, she started an impressive career as an adjudicator. Lately, she has worked as DCA at the European Championships in Tallin 2008 and Belgrade 2012.
Philipp Stiel talked with her for the Achte Minute about the upcomig event.

EUDC 2012: Let the games begin!
Alright, guys, London Olympics is out - all eyes on Belgrade now: "#EUDC is officially open!" Debaters of Europe have assembled in the Serbian capital to compete for the title of the European Universities Debating Championship (EUDC or Euros). Numbers include 200 teams, nine preliminary rounds, two quarters (in the categories "open" and "English as a Second Language," ESL), two semi-finals and two finals. That makes a schedule as follows:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday three prelims each
Thursday both open and ESL quarters, ESL semis
Friday open semis, both open and ESL finals

MDD 2012: Tobias Kube awarded best junior speaker
Tobias Kube from Marburg was awarded best junior speaker at this year's German language debating championship (Meisterschaft im deutschsprachigen Debattieren or MDD) in Vienna. This award is a cup engraved with the names of all former laureates. It is assigned by the German alumni debating society DDG (short for Deutsche Debattiergesellschaft) since 2004. WUDC 2012: Tag 5 – Das Council tagte
New year's daywas quiet at World Universities Debating Championships (WUDC or Worls) in Manila:Most debater had the chance to take a tour around the Philippinian capital, relaxed and hang out at the hotel. That was not true today for the national delegates. They had to sit in the WUDC Council where they decide about a new Council president, the confirmation of the current bid for next Worlds and the bid for the Worlds after that.

WUDC 2012: Starting now!
Debaters from all over the world are flocking in to Manila, Philippines. From 27 December 2011 to 4 January 2012, they assemble at De La Salle University (DLSU) to compete for the title of the World Universities Debating Championships (WUDC or Worlds).
From under the roof of VDCH there will be the following debating society competing with around 400 teams from about 70 countries - all in a peaceful competition, the WUDC 2012 or DLSU Worlds:

The Berlin Debating Union announced the Berlin World's DCAs. Victor Finkel, Isabelle Fischer (former Loewe) and James Kilcup are Berlin World's DCAs, Jens Fischer is Tabmaster. Congrats! Doug Cochran and Sharmila Parmanand are the Berlin World's CAs.
We are very happy to see the newly wed Jens and Isa Fischer as DCA and Tabmaster and use the opportunity to congratulate them to their wedding!

UCU Open 2011
The UCU Open fits into the series of tournaments in the coming debating season. Hosted already for the second time by the Dutch University College Utrecht (UCU) Debating Union on November 4 and 5, this Open will be "bigger and " according to the org com. Convenor Marlies Hombergen and her team offer five prelims, a semifinal and a final. Registration has already opened (n-1 applies). CA the ESL world champion Anne Valkering (ASDV Bonaparte), reg fee is €25. Crash accommodation will be provided both from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday.

Masters’ Cup 2010: CA Team nominated
Gudrun Lux, president of Deutsche Debattiergesellschaft (DDG), the German alumni association for debaters, announced the CA team of Masters' Cup 2011. Traditionally, one member each from VDCH and DDG executive boards are the chief adjudicators of Masters’ Cup. This year, this will be the recently elected president of VDCH Benedikt Nufer and Gudrun's deputy, DDG vice president Isabelle Loewe.

Leiden wins Jacobs open 2011
Becky West and Rogier Baart from the Leiden Debating Union won the Jacobs Open 2011.
Their team Stop trying to make 'fetch' happen as Opening Opposition defeated three other teams from the Netherlands: Jeroen Heun and Daniël Springer (Erasmus Rotterdam), Setry Rabejaona and Liva Andersone (Erasmus Rotterdam) and Danique van Koppenhagen and Tomas Beerthuis (Utrecht Debating Society). Masters’ Cup 2011
Anticipatory joy is the greatest joy: the date for the Masters' Cup 2011 has already been fixed! The tournament will be held from 23 to 24 September in Eisenach. Afterwards, on 25 September, this year's general meeting of the Deutsche Debattiergesellschaft (DDG) takes place.

The current president of the EUDC Council, Jens Henning Fischer, has been elected president of the WUDC Council in Botswana tonight. He succeeds Sam Greenland from Sydney, Australia in office. It was in July this year when Jens had been re-elected EUDC president at Euros in Amsterdam.
