Jacobs Open 2014From the 24th to the 26th October 2014, conveners Khanh Van Le and Beenish Waris from the Jacobs University Bremen Debating Society will host the annual Jacobs Open in Bremen, Germany. Henrik Maedler, whom Chief Adjudicator Niels Schröter called the "007 of debating", will also be part of the organisation team. The tournament features four Chief Adjudicators (CAs) and three Independent Adjudicators. Some slots are available during this years' Jacobs Open in Bremen. In April, Jacobs University Bremen (JUB) Debating Society is planning the Jacobs Open 2012 from 13 to 15. And the victory at Jacobs Open 2011 fell to Becky West and Rogier Baart (Leiden Debating Union) in an all-Dutch final debate on the motion “This house would promote atheism”. The international debating community does not stand still. In April, Jacobs University Bremen (JUB) Debating Society is planning the Jacobs Open 2012 from 13 to 15. A mentionable fact: Alyona Asyamova from JUB Bremen won with her team partner Rob Honig (Leiden) the ESL final of Amsterdam Open 2009. Leiden wins Jacobs open 2011

Becky West and Rogier Baart from the Leiden Debating Union won the Jacobs Open 2011. Their team Stop trying to make 'fetch' happen as Opening Opposition defeated three other teams from the Netherlands: Jeroen Heun and Daniël Springer (Erasmus Rotterdam), Setry Rabejaona and Liva Andersone (Erasmus Rotterdam) and Danique van Koppenhagen and Tomas Beerthuis (Utrecht Debating Society). New date for Jacobs Open 2011Natasha Ovchar, convenor of the tournament, has announced today that the Jacobs Open 2011 will take place from 29 April to 1 May. Attention: Jacobs Open 2011 postponed

The Jacobs University Bremen Debating Society announced on the tournament website of Jacobs Open 2011 that the competition has to be postponed to the late spring of 2011 "due to several obstacles from different sides". Therefore the Jacobs Open 2011 will not take place from January 28th to 30th as originally scheduled. Natasha Ovchar, convenor of the tournament, is asking all participants not to be discouraged and offers an even better organized tournament in Bremen instead. Nach einem Sieg gegen den FC Augsburg am Montagabend steht der FC St. Pauli nun praktisch als Aufsteiger in die Fußball-Bundesliga fest. Damit wird es im nächsten Jahr erstmals seit 2004 wieder zwei erstklassige Teams aus derselben Stadt geben. Die Universität Bremen hat eine Pressemitteilung über den frisch geschlüpften VDCH-Club Hanse Debating Union Bremen (HDU) versandt. Die Pressemitteilung über die HDU ist online abrufbar. Darin wird zur bereits von der Achten Minute vermeldeten Auftaktveranstaltung des Clubs eingeladen:  "Unterstützt von der Wochenzeitung DIE ZEIT, findet am Dienstag, den 13. April 2010 um 18 Uhr im SFG 2020 ein erstes Treffen aller Debattierwilligen statt.
