The Association of Debating Societies at Universities (VDCH) has now grown to 70 debating societies. The umbrella association represents debating societies in Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland. Jan Lüken, current president of VDCH, is proud to announce that just recently four new debating societies have become members of VDCH. These are AFA Wien, Debattierclub Zürich, DUEbattierclub Duisburg-Essen and Streitkultur Berlin. Streitkultur Berlin is a kind of "branch" of Streitkultur Tübingen and as such an advocat for the format OPD (open parliamentary debate, a format widely spread in Germany). Daniel Grotzky has been announced CA for ZEIT DEBATTE Stuttgart. As Nils Haneklaus from Debattierclub Stuttgart (DCS) informed Achte Minute, Daniel is going to replace Andrea Gau. Daniel is one of the most experienced debaters in Germany, he has been CA of Southern German Championships 2007 and 2010 and of the German Championship 2010. Marc Lenzke, Marcus Ewald and Isabelle Loewe (DC Bonn) won the prestigious Streitkultur Cup in Tübingen. They defeated as team for Debattierclub Johannes Gutenberg Mainz (DCJG) another DCJG team consisting of Sina Strupp, Jan Papsch and Nicolas Eberle. The final was completed by the three Free Speakers Lea Weitekamp (Bonn), Hauke Blume (Berlin) and Wladi Jachtschenko (München). “How far have you travelled?“is the starting sentence into any kind of conversation this weekend. It is the kick-off into the new season of ZEIT DEBATTEN series at Greifswald. Flirts, smalltalk - they all start with the "How long did it take you to get here" question. Indeed, the Hanseatic town by the Bodden, a bay at the Baltic Sea, is located in quite a remote area. Nichtstörende (!) Zwischenrufe sind erlaubt. Zwischenrufe werden wieder wie Zwischenfragen in der Bewertung "angemessen berücksichtigt". Michael Saliba, Präsident des Debattierclub Stuttgart (DCS), hat mitgeteilt, dass Daniel Sommer (DC Heidelberg) bei der ZEIT DEBATTE in Stuttgart (22.-24. Januar) chefjurieren wird. Er ersetzt den ursprünglich angekündigten Daniel Grotzky (DC München), der aus beruflichen Gründen nicht nach Stuttgart kommen kann. Neben Daniel Sommer werden Isabelle Loewe (DC Bonn), Marcus Ewald (DCJG Mainz) und Andreas Lazar (DCS) als Chefjuroren fungieren.
