Die Ewige Bestenliste des VDCH - Saison 2019/20Bis ins Jahr 2018 pflegte der VDCH eine Ewige Bestenliste, basierend auf den Erfolgen der Debattierclubs auf der ZEIT DEBATTEN-Serie. Die Liste wurde jeweils zum Saisonende aktualisiert und gibt die Erfolge der Clubs seit der ersten Deutschen Debattiermeisterschaft 2001 wieder. Im Sinne des sportlichen Wettkampfs hat die Achte Minute diese Tradition nun wieder zum Leben erweckt - und stellt die nächsten Wochen jeweils die Entwicklungen über eine Saison seit damals vor. Berühmtheiten à la Carte: Michael Saliba über das Debattieren bei der Oxford UnionDas Debattieren in Oxford unterscheidet sich deutlich von anderen Debattierclubs auf der Welt. Gegründet 1823, ist die Oxford Debating Union die zweitälteste universitäre Debattiergesellschaft Englands. (Die älteste Union befindet sich in einer Kleinstadt nördlich von London.) Jedes Mitglied der University of Oxford kann der Union für knapp £250 lebenslänglich beitreten. Dafür wird auch einiges geboten: Zum Beipiel eine Bar mitsamt Angestellten, eine normale Bibliothek, eine wunderschöne alte Bibliothek, Snooker-Tische, diverse Räumlichkeiten und als Herzstück die Debating Chamber. From the 14th to the 15th November 2014, Molly McParland and Jamie Jackson of the Oxford Union will organise the annual Oxford IV in England. DAPDI 2014 - one week of debate training in RotterdamFrom the 21st until the 25th of July, the Erasmus Debate Society (EDS) invites debaters from all over the World to join DAPDI 2014, the annual debate training camp held in Rotterdam. The Baillie Gifford Oxford Women's Open 2014From Friday May 16th to Saturday May 17th, the Oxford Union will once again host the annual Women's Open Debating Competition. The tournament aims at encouraging women, who are still in the minority in the global debating circuit, to participate more actively in debating. Especially after the incidents in Glasgow last year, where female debaters in a final were publicly insulted, the Oxford Women's Open also became an important event to adress misogyny and gender-related issues in the debating world.
